                2025 Fantasy Outlook

For the second year in a row, Claxton took a step back as a fantasy producer. At his peak in 2022-23, he was averaging 12.6 points on 70.5 shooting, 9.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 29.9 minutes. Last year, he averaged 10.3 points on 56.3 shooting, 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 26.9 minutes. While Claxton has become a better passer and has attempted to expand his game beyond being just a rollman, the results have not been promising and have ultimately damaged his fantasy value. At the same time, backup center Day'Ron Sharpe's minutes and role have been increasing, as have Noah Clowney's - who can play the four or the five. Claxton is probably still worth rostering in fantasy, especially in two-center formats. He has some upside, but a lot of that depends on his workload and whether or not he goes back to what he does best. Double-double in loss
Claxton amassed 18 points (8-14 FG, 2-4 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and one block across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 117-112 loss to the Hawks.
				  ANALYSIS
Claxton recorded his first double-double of the season, a welcome sight after a somewhat modest start to the campaign. He also recorded his first block of the season, something managers will be hoping is the first of many. Through five games, Claxton is averaging 12.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.0 combined steals and blocks. Brooklyn has already shown its hand when it comes to what this season might look like, and that'll mean sporadic production for Claxton.

Claxton's rebounding and shot-blocking abilities make him a draftable player, but his poor free-throw shooting and complete lack of a three-pointer limit his upside. Over the last two seasons, he's averaged 12.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.3 blocks while missing only 17 games. However, his field-goal percentage dipped from a career-high 70.5 percent in 2022-23 to 62.9 percent last season. While that's still an elite number, the drop significantly impacted his value in category leagues. He finished 83rd in eight-category leagues last year compared to 29th in 2022-23. The Nets are in the midst of a rebuild following the trade of Mikal Bridges to the Knicks, but Claxton appears to be Brooklyn's cornerstone player after signing a four-year, $100 extension this offseason. That doesn't mean increased production and could even be a negative if the Nets, who are expected to be one of the worst teams in the NBA, rest Claxton late in the campaign to improve their draft position. Claxton has more value in points leagues, but barring a major step forward, it's difficult to use a top-50 pick on a player with such limited fantasy upside.

				  Back not giving him issues
Claxton said Tuesday that his back feels great after "a really good offseason," Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
				  ANALYSIS
Claxton played through a back injury during the 2024-25 regular season, and he said it was still bothering him as he entered the summer. He admitted that he didn't have the campaign he was hoping for, but he's ready to move on in what he's hoping will be a bounce-back season. Claxton averaged 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.4 blocks on 56.3 percent from the field across 70 regular-season appearances despite being limited, so there is plenty of upside here if he can stay healthy.
