2025 Fantasy Outlook
Holmgren missed his true rookie season due to a broken foot and debuted two seasons ago, putting together a great campaign that resulted in a second-place Rookie of the Year finish. Last season was also hampered by injury - this time, a broken hip limited Holmgren to just 32 appearances. Still, he played well as Oklahoma City's No. 3 option, and it ultimately resulted in a championship, plus a five-year maximum contract extension. In Holmgren's 27.4 minutes per game, he averaged 15.0 points and 1.4 threes on 49/38/75 shooting, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.2 blocks. In terms of fantasy production, it was technically worse than his rookie season. However, it's important to keep in mind his limited minutes due to injury and the Thunder's blowout wins amid their dominant 68-win season. The next step in Holmgren's game, more than anything, will be staying healthy and crossing the 30-minute threshold. Increased minutes alone could vault Holmgren into second-round fantasy value, putting aside any potential development. Development for Holmgren should primarily focus on improving efficiency. Increased playmaking volume may be tough to come by while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams are ahead of him in the pecking order. Read Past Outlooks
Grabs first double-double of WCF
Holmgren posted 16 points (6-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 30 minutes during Tuesday's 127-114 victory over San Antonio in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old center produced his first double-double of the series while setting a new scoring high for the WCF. He's gaining confidence in his matchup against Victor Wembanyama, and through five games against the Spurs, Holmgren is averaging 12.2 points, 7.0 boards, 1.2 assists and 0.8 blocks in 30.4 minutes while shooting 51.2 percent from the floor. Holmgren will look to build on this effort in Game 6 on Thursday as the Thunder try to punch their tickets to the NBA Finals.

2022
After missing all of his true rookie season with a foot injury, Holmgren debuted last season. The No. 2 overall pick from 2022 didn't disappoint, putting together a strong season that would have landed him Rookie of the Year honors were it not for Victor Wembanyama. Offensively, Holmgren was efficient, averaging 16.5 points and 1.6 threes on 53/37/79 shooting. On defense, his shot-blocking was elite, averaging 2.3 swats per game, which was good for the second-highest block percentage (7.3%) in the league. His rebounding was solid (7.9 per game) but certainly lower than hoped for given his 7-foot-1 frame. The Thunder were one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA last season, and they addressed that issue in the offseason by adding center Isaiah Hartenstein. Regardless of how much center or power forward Holmgren plays, he could be in the mix for more offensive responsibilities as his game develops, especially with the team trading away Josh Giddey for Alex Caruso. Holmgren's rebounding and shot-blocking could be affected negatively, but it's possible he will make up for it with more points, assists and steals. Either way, with Holmgren already establishing himself as a top-40 fantasy asset, managers shouldn't feel like they're taking much risk taking him in the second or third round as he enters his age-22 season.
