2026 Fantasy Outlook
After tossing 22.2 innings over six outings in his first MLB cup of coffee in 2024, Warren emerged as a key part of New York's rotation last season. Due partly to injuries to Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil, Warren opened the campaign in the Yankees' rotation and remained there for the entire season, compiling a 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 171:65 K:BB over 162.1 innings spanning 33 starts. Though his first full year in the majors wasn't without ups and downs, Warren led all MLB rookies in punchouts and finished eighth in AL Rookie of the Year voting. His fastball, which opponents hit just .216 against, showed plenty of promise, but Warren struggled to fool hitters with his sweeper -- opponents batted .336 with a .569 SLG against it. The key to Warren's growth is likely gaining effectiveness with his offspeed stuff and lowering his walk rate, and on most teams he'd be given plenty of opportunity to make those gains moving forward. However, it's not certain that he'll have a spot in New York's rotation throughout next season with Cole set to return, Gil long since recovered and fellow 2025 rookie Cam Schlittler setting the world on fire late last season alongside All-Star Max Fried. However, if Carlos Rodon (elbow) isn't ready for the beginning of the regular season, Warren is the obvious choice to occupy that starting slot. Read Past Outlooks
Fans career-best 11 in second win
Warren (2-0) picked up the win in Saturday's 13-4 rout of the Royals, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out 11 without walking a batter.
Analysis
The right-hander was dominant as he delivered his first quality start of the season and tied his career high in Ks, generating 32 called or swinging strikes among his 93 pitches (62 total strikes). Warren even had a shutout going until Carter Jensen finally got the visitors on the board with a two-run homer in the seventh. Warren is doing his best to make sure he's in no danger of losing his spot once the Yankees' rotation gets healthier, posting a 2.49 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and dazzling 31:6 K:BB through five starts and 25.1 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is set to come on the road next weekend in Houston.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2024
Warren hasn't put it all together yet, but he consistently misses bats while limiting the walks enough to keep the dream of starting alive. He had a 10.32 ERA and 1.90 WHIP in 22.2 innings last year in his first taste of the majors, yet Warren's 17.3 K-BB% was better than Luis Gil's 14.8 K-BB% and in the same ballpark as Nestor Cortes (17.3 K-BB%), Clarke Schmidt (17.8 K-BB%) and Gerrit Cole (17.9 K-BB%). Warren's best offering by far is his low-80s sweeper, and that fastball/sweeper combo allowed him to log a 28.6 K-BB% against righties, but he was completely ineffective against lefties (1.9 K-BB%, 2.30 WHIP), and he'll need to improve either his changeup (12% usage) or cutter (4% usage) to successfully navigate a big-league lineup multiple times. Warren should return to Triple-A, but he could make double-digit starts in the majors as a fill-in option with a dash of breakout potential and a good reason to watch him in the spring (looking to see how he does against left-handed hitters).
