                2025 Fantasy Outlook

Beck's efforts were severely limited in 2024 by a shoulder aneurysm that occurred in spring training and caused him to miss most of the season. He worked just under 30 innings when things were all said and done, but he was effective in his September work for the Giants. Beck has been a full-time starter throughout his entire professional career, but the time missed in 2024 may lead the Giants to use Beck in a swing role out of the bullpen in 2025 so as not to overwork him. His fastball has been particularly tough on batters because of his extension and the ride he gets on the pitch more so than its velocity. However, his non-fastballs have not delivered the same types of outcomes, despite his slider being graded out as his best pitch by Stuff+. Relief may be the best home for Beck long term, and it would not surprise us to see his stuff play up in shorter stints in 2025 with the Giants should they decide to carefully manage his workload after the lost time last season. Beck picked up a hold in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rockies, tossing a scoreless inning.

The right-hander has logged three consecutive scoreless outings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out three in 4.2 innings during that span. Overall, he owns a 4.69 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across 55.2 innings in 30 appearances this season.

    2024
				2023
He struggled in a late-season look as a starter (7.50 ERA), but Beck was effective when used in relief by the Giants, collecting a 3.33 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 60:19 K:BB over 73 innings. A .613 OPS against right-handed batters and .820 OPS versus left-handed hitters would also seem to point to his future being in the bullpen. While Beck has missed bats at a solid 24.5 percent rate in the minors, that number dropped as he moved up levels and his 19.2 percent mark with the Giants suggests he might not produce much swing-and-miss in the big leagues. Beck also no longer looks like he'll be much of a groundball guy, holding a 35.2 percent rate at Triple-A Sacramento and a 40.8 percent rate with the Giants in 2023. It seems unlikely that the 27-year-old will be entrusted with a starting role or high-leverage relief role.
