Trey Lipscomb

Lipscomb failed to secure an opening day roster spot but was called up almost immediately. He spent most of the season bouncing between the Nationals and Triple-A Rochester. He can play all around the infield, but third base is his natural position with Lipscomb a minor league gold glove at the hot corner. He has a bit of power and speed, but last season he struggled to get on base, especially facing southpaws, which is off since Lipscomb bats right-handed. His plate skills are palatable, but Lipscomb needs to hit the ball with more authority. Washington doesn't have an everyday third baseman, unless 22-year-old top prospect Brady House impresses in the spring. Lipscomb will be in the mix, but even if he wins the job, he'll need to demonstrate mixed league production. He's not a bad flyer, especially in deep draft and hold formats.
