2026 Fantasy Outlook
Gibson was a data darling in 2024 in the lower levels, but given that he was an undrafted free agent signing 2023, it took a while for people to catch up to how good he is. It became more apparent in 2025, as the 6-foot-5, 240-pound righty put up a dominant 31.9 K-BB% in a return to High-A and a 1.55 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 68:18 K:BB and 49.1 percent groundball rate in 52.1 innings (10 starts) at Double-A. He ran into some bad luck and performed worse against Triple-A hitters, logging a 7.98 ERA, 3.80 xFIP, 1.81 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB in 29.1 innings over seven starts. Gibson's dominant groundball rates from 2024 didn't carry over in 2025, as he has steadily tinkered with his pitch mix. He operates with a pair of mid-90s fastballs and several breaking ball variations, all of which are exciting bat-missing weapons. The Orioles are going into 2026 with plenty of rotation depth, but Gibson should be deserving of a shot sometime this summer. He has a chance to be a high-strikeout mid-rotation starter. Read Past Outlooks
Falls apart in fifth inning
Gibson (1-1) took the loss Monday against the Rays, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk in 4.2 innings. He failed to record a strikeout.
Analysis
Filling in for the injured Chris Bassitt (back), Gibson wasn't very effective in a spot start Monday. The rookie right-hander did make it through four scoreless innings initially, but the Mariners tagged him for three runs in the fifth frame. Gibson has looked overmatched at times in the major leagues, posting a 4.24 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and an alarming 5:8 K:BB over 17 innings, so he'll be tough to trust as a streaming option in his next scheduled start versus the Padres.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Called up before end of 2025?
Sam Dykstra and Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com list Gibson as a potential prospect who could be called up to the majors by the Orioles before the end of the 2025 season.
Analysis
Gibson is currently pitching with Triple-A Norfolk after starting the season in High-A Aberdeen. The 23-year-old right-hander has posted a 2.10 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 13.1 K/9 in 60 innings over his last 12 outings between Double-A and Triple-A. Even with Kyle Bradish set to make his 2025 debut against the Red Sox in the coming week, Gibson could be called up to get some big-league experience and give the Orioles' rotation a boost.
