Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Ward has dealt with injury problems in his career but has now turned in back-to-back healthy seasons. He easily set new career highs in home runs (36), RBI (103) and runs (86) in 2025, leading to a top-20 finish among fantasy outfielders after he was top-40 fantasy outfielder in 2024. Ward did have a career-high 26.4 percent strikeout rate last season, and that, combined with being an extreme flyball hitter, means he's likely to continue to be a batting average liability. The 32-year-old was traded from Anaheim to Baltimore in November, a move which comes with an upgrade to his supporting cast. The team change comes with a slight ballpark downgrade, however; Camden Yards was still worse for right-handed power in 2025 after the changes to the left-field wall. Read Past Outlooks
Belts two-run homer
Ward went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during the Orioles' 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Analysis
Ward capped off the Orioles' four-run fifth inning with a two-run homer off Kevin Gausman to left field. It was just the third home run of the season for Ward, but the veteran outfielder has been better at the plate as of late. He has gone 8-for-21 (.381) with two extra-base hits, three RBI and four runs over his last five games.

Ward offered some rare stability amidst another dud of a season from the Angels. The 31-year-old showed no ill effects from a scary incident which ended his 2023 campaign when a hit by pitch in the face resulted in multiple fractures, setting career highs in home runs, RBI and games played. Ward's 13 percent barrel rate and 90.9 mph average exit velocity also represented full-season highs. If anything, Ward underperformed relative to his batted ball data, as his .351 xwOBA was 26 points higher than his actual .325 wOBA. Ward appears likely to be held back by his supporting cast again in 2025, although a healthy season out of Mike Trout would certainly help. While he doesn't offer standout production in any area, Ward was a top-40 outfielder in 2024 and it's reasonable to think he could finish in that range again.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Surprised by trade
According to Sam Blum of The Athletic, Ward was "caught off guard" when he was traded from the Angels to the Orioles on Tuesday.
Analysis
The Angels have long been rumored to be shopping Ward, and they finally agreed to a deal ahead of his final year of arbitration eligibility. The veteran outfielder set career highs with 36 home runs, 103 RBI and 86 runs last season, and he'll bring some pop to a Baltimore lineup that saw a number of players regress in 2025.
