2026 Fantasy Outlook
Bieber didn't debut in 2025 until late August while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, and he did so for the Blue Jays after being acquired from the Guardians at the trade deadline. The right-hander pitched well in his seven regular-season starts with a 3.57 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB over 40.1 innings, and he fared similarly well during Toronto's World Series run with a 3.86 ERA over 18.2 postseason frames. The small sample size is worth keeping in mind, but he also had his best average fastball velocity (92.8 mph) since 2021. However, Bieber gave up quite a bit of hard contact, with a 48.2 percent hard-hit rate and 12.3 percent barrel rate being the worst of his career by significant margins. Bieber has a strong track record in the majors, and his performance in his first year back from major surgery is an encouraging sign he can pitch at that level going forward. There is still some risk for his first full season coming back from the injury, however. Read Past Outlooks
Lined up for season debut Monday
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Friday that "all signs point towards" Bieber (elbow) making his season debut Monday against the Astros, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis
The Blue Jays are holding off making it official until Bieber throws a bullpen session Saturday, but as long as he doesn't have any hiccups with that throwing session he will take the ball in Monday's series opener at Rogers Centre. Bieber would also line up for a second start that weekend at home versus the Rangers. Coming back from right elbow inflammation, Bieber has collected a 6.88 ERA and 14:5 K:BB over 17 innings covering five rehab starts. He threw 80 pitches in his last outing, so he's close to being fully stretched out.

Bieber dazzled during spring training and in his first two starts of the 2024 regular season, seemingly putting concerns of his elbow issues from 2023 behind him. Unfortunately, previous injury remains the best predictor of future injury and it was at that point when it was announced Bieber needed Tommy John surgery. He will miss the first few months of the 2025 campaign and represents a wild card even before accounting for how his stuff and command bounces back post-op. Bieber's velocity and strikeouts have been heading in the wrong direction, save for the two-start sample in 2024, but he showed in 2022 he can still turn in an elite fantasy performance even with diminished stuff. He'll remain in familiar hands, inking a one-year, $14 million deal with Cleveland, so there will be motivation from both sides for him have a strong showing in the second half.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Guardians motivated to trade
The Guardians are "trying to move" Bieber before the trade deadline, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Bieber -- who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery -- dazzled in his latest rehab start with Double-A Akron on Tuesday, striking out seven over four innings of one-run ball. He should be major-league ready in early August, and while it would take a leap of faith from a contender to trade for him, Bieber represents a high-upside gamble. Bieber holds a $16 million player option -- or $4 million buyout -- for 2026, which he would surely decline if he pitches well down the stretch.
