Analysis
Taylor came through in the late stages of Monday's win, giving San Diego the lead on an RBI bunt single in the seventh inning before depositing a two-RBI single into left field in the eighth frame to extend the lead. The 27-year-old was called up Wednesday from Triple-A El Paso and hasn't found much success in prior major-league opportunities, but he could receive some looks in left field with Ramon Laureano (hip) expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Taylor began the season with Triple-A Omaha before earning his first trip to The Show in mid-June. He shuttled back and forth a few times but never was able to show he could handle major league pitching. Taylor contributed eight steals without being caught in just 31 games with the Royals, but his 31.9 percent strikeout rate and 30.0 percent HardHit% resulted in a low .270 on-base mark. However, on the farm, Taylor's combined line was .299/.416/.464 with a 20.5 percent strikeout rate and 15.9 percent walk rate. The 25-year-old's primary position is second base, but he can play third base, shortstop and left field, so he could earn a job as a utility infielder with a strong spring. Taylor isn't worthy of anything more than a reserve spot in an AL-only format, but he could emerge as a cheap source of steals in season if he can better approach the plate skills displayed on the farm.
