                  Struggling to make contact
Arias is hitting .211 with a .349 OBP, two home runs, seven steals and a 35.6 percent strikeout rate in 32 games for Single-A Tampa.
                  Analysis
Arias turns 20 in September, so he's at a level he should be able to have success at, but thus far the concerns about his contact rate in rookie ball have proven valid. His contact rate is below 60 percent in his first taste of full-season ball, and the only reason he's been better than league average (108 wRC+) is that his 16.1 percent walk rate is the 12th-best mark in the Florida State League.

        2024 Fantasy Outlook

Arias was the best prospect on a loaded Yankees Florida Complex League roster prior to suffering a season-ending hand injury in late-July. The top overall prospect from the 2022 international signing class, Arias has a chance to be a five-tool shortstop. The switch hitter slashed .267/.423/.505 with six home runs and 17 steals in 27 games before the injury, rebounding nicely from a middling pro debut in the Dominican Summer League in 2022. Arias had a 20.0 BB% in the DSL and a 20.8 BB% in the FCL, so he currently projects to be better in OBP leagues than in batting average leagues. He has been limited to 58 pro games in two years and is heading to Single-A for his age-19 season, so Arias isn't going to be as young for his level as the typical former top J-15 signee. However, he's got a very high ceiling on both sides of the ball and could move quickly thanks to his mature approach.
