2026 Fantasy Outlook
Iglesias accounted for 29 of Atlanta's saves in 2025 for an 85.3 percent team save share that was 3rd-highest among closers overall. The right-hander endured some struggles during his age-35 campaign, but finished strong by posting a 0.38 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and a league-leading 16 saves over the final two months. Iglesias held opposing hitters to a .129 BAA and .188 SLG on his fastball, which were the second-best marks in the league for those who tossed a minimum of 300 of that pitch type. He leaned on his four-seamer more heavily down the stretch, tossing it roughly 50 percent of the time from the beginning of August compared to the high-20's-to-low-30's that he was throwing it prior; an adjustment that yielded far more favorable results. While multiple teams expressed interest in signing Iglesias this off-season, the veteran closer signed a 1-year, $16M contract to stay in Atlanta for the 2026 campaign. On average, Iglesias has been the 12th closer off the board in early 2026 drafts. Read Past Outlooks
Slams door for fourth save
Iglesias picked up the save Wednesday against the Marlins, allowing one hit and no walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out three.
Analysis
The veteran right-hander pounded the zone Wednesday, with just one of his 12 pitches landing for a ball. Iglesias continues to show no signs of slowing down in his age-36 campaign -- he's up to 7.2 shutout innings so far to go with a 10:0 K:BB and four saves in as many opportunities. As long as he continues to deal, Iglesias should remain locked in as Atlanta's primary closer over Robert Suarez.

At age 34, Iglesias had one of the best seasons of his career, tying a career high with 34 saves while posting career-best marks in ERA (1.95) and WHIP (0.74). His strikeout rate (26.3%) was down compared to prior outputs as he generated fewer whiffs on his changeup and four-seamer, but his five percent walk rate was a top-15 mark among qualified relievers while his .156 batting average against ranked sixth. All four of Iglesias' offerings produced a .179 BAA or better. The veteran closer has been remarkably consistent throughout his 10-year career, constantly delivering ratios in line with his career 2.87 ERA and 1.05 WHIP, but with Iglesias entering his mid-to-late 30s, the downswing of his career may soon be on the horizon. He certainly warrants a selection as a top-10 closer for 2025, but as he enters the final year of his contract with Atlanta, he could become a trade candidate if the team does not perform to expectations.
