Loperfido was highly productive when the Blue Jays gave him an opportunity last season, though the 72-point gap between his xwOBA (.309) and wOBA (.381) points to some good fortune. The 26-year-old saw his OPS at the Triple-A level dip from .933 in 2024 to .743 in 2025, but he was able to cut his strikeout rate from 28 percent to 21.4 percent and he lowered his strikeout rate in the majors from 36.3 percent to 26 percent year-over-year, as well. He's flashed power and speed potential, but whether Loperfido is able to make enough contact will go a long way in determining his future as a big leaguer. It's probably going to take multiple injuries to the Blue Jays' outfield in order for Loperfido to get regular reps with the big club in 2026. Read Past Outlooks

Loperfido began the season with Houston where he hit his way onto the roster with a .272/.365/.568 line in Triple-A Sugerland, but was overexposed both with Houston and then with Toronto as he was part of the deal that sent Kikuchi to the Astros. Loperfido has a fun collection of tools and could hit 20-plus homers or steal 20-plus bases if he could get on base more frequently. He struck out in 36.3 percent of his plate appearances, which led to an OBP more befitting a second string catcher than an outfielder with upside. It should be expected that Loperfido would compete for a corner outfield job, at least whichever one isn't given to Springer. There are other names ahead of him on the depth chart as things stand in late November, but Loperfido is more talented than the other names in the outfield, and they all have options, so nobody has that particular advantage. If Loperfido can hit well in Dunedin in March, he has an excellent chance of making the club and being a late-round fantasy value in deeper league formats, however, he needs to close some of the holes that major-league pitchers attacked with regularity in 2024.
