2026 Fantasy Outlook
Harvey's durability continues to be a major issue with lengthy trips to the injured list in each of the past six seasons. In 2025, it was shoulder and groin strains, respectively, that limited the right-hander to just 12 appearances with Kansas City, during which he posted an 11:1 K:BB over 10.2 shutout innings. The 31-year-old boasts an impressive 3.11 ERA and 1.10 WHIP for his career, but since 2021 he's averaged 90-plus days on the IL per season. Harvey recently signed a one-year deal with the Cubs, and while he's likely to see action in high-leverage spots, he doesn't project to take many save chances away from Daniel Palencia. While it might be tough to click Harvey's name in draft-and-hold rooms this spring, it's worth monitoring his status in leagues where you can pick up free-agents. Read Past Outlooks
Out with triceps inflammation
The Cubs placed Harvey on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right triceps inflammation, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Analysis
It's unclear when the issue cropped up for Harvey, but he hasn't pitched since firing a scoreless inning Wednesday in Tampa Bay. He'll be eligible to return in late April, but there's no indication yet of the severity of the injury.

Harvey racked up 28 holds (9th in the majors) in 2024 across 49 appearances between the Nationals and Royals. Unfortunately, he only appeared in six contests with Kansas City before a back injury ended his season prematurely last August. Harvey's durability has been a longstanding issue with trips to the injured list in each of the past five seasons. Since 2022, he's averaged 55 days on the IL per season. Despite this, the hard-throwing righty has racked up 29 saves-plus-holds in each of the past two campaigns, making it clear he's trusted in high-leverage when healthy. 10-plus saves are possible in 2025 if health permits for Harvey, but the Royals are likely to favor Lucas Erceg and Carlos Estevez for their primary save share.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Deal to Mets fell apart
According to Pat Ragazzo of SI.com, the Royals and Mets explored a trade in December that would have sent Harvey to Queens in exchange for outfielder Starling Marte.
Analysis
The right-hander was acquired from the Nationals at the summer trade deadline and made just six appearances for Kansas City due to back problems. The Royals have signed Carlos Estevez to bolster the back end of their bullpen this winter since exploring that trade with the Mets, which could provide some stability to continue exploring trades involving Harvey.
