2026 Fantasy Outlook
An intercostal strain, suffered during the Orioles' Feb. 27 Grapefruit League game, put Henderson on the injured list to begin the 2025 season. He returned in the first week of April, but it took a while before Henderson began to look like himself again, as he limped out of the gates with a .228/.268/.413 line through the end of April. The 24-year-old was more comfortable by the summer months, batting well over .300 in June and July. His performance dipped again down the stretch, and in the end, Henderson's .787 OPS was down more than 100 points from the year prior (.893). This may present a buy-low opportunity in fantasy drafts, although early ADP suggests there will not be much of a discount. Henderson reached a career-high 30 steals in 35 attempts last season, continuing his run of good efficiency on the basepaths and presumably keeping the light green under new manager Craig Albernaz. Homers, steals in win
Henderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Giants.
Analysis
Henderson broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning with a solo shot off Logan Webb before adding a stolen base in the seventh. The 24-year-old shortstop has now homered in four of his past five games while recording a double in the lone exception during that stretch. Henderson is off to a strong start this year, slashing .246/.348/.614 with six home runs, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases across 66 plate appearances.

Henderson, through his age-23 season, already has more homers than Freddie Freeman, David Wright and Francisco Lindor had through their age-23 seasons. He has more runs scored at this age than Derek Jeter and Fernando Tatis Jr. Simply put, he has been everything that was expected of him and then some through two-plus seasons in Baltimore. Nearly every measure across the board has improved year over year with nary a hiccup to be found. Despite the unfriendly confines to the opposite field, Henderson had 23 of his 37 homers at home. The power waned in the second half of the season, as his slugging percentage dropped from .584 to .447. His struggles, along with Adley Rutschman's, were a big reason why Baltimore ended up in the wild-card spot and bounced in two games without a whimper. The second-half slump will likely be motivation for him as he works out all winter and prepares for another full season of play a taxing position. He is a first-round talent and will be one for the foreseeable future barring injury.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Extension not likely
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the odds of Henderson signing an extension with the Orioles are "extremely low."
Analysis
The 24-year-old is making $8.5 million in his first season of arbitration eligibility this year, and the O's would certainly like to keep him in Baltimore long term. The reality is that Henderson and agent Scott Boras will likely be seeking top dollar, and the shortstop will be well positioned to enter the market for the 2029 season at just 28 years old. Nothing is likely to happen in the near future with two-plus years of team control, but the Orioles could eventually consider trading him, assuming there's not much progression for extension talks.
