Rest-of-Season Projections
Joining big club
The Brewers selected Jones' contract from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
The 28-year-old outfielder joined Milwaukee on a minor-league contract in December and failed to make the Opening Day roster, but he'll get a look in the big leagues early in the season with Christian Yelich (groin) landing on the injured list. Jones isn't likely to see significant playing time, though a path is there if he can make a strong early impression with Jackson Chourio (hand) also on the IL.

This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.
* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2020
The Rays traded Jones to the Rockies late in spring training. He opened the season with Triple-A Alburquerque but missed a month with an unspecified injury. Jones received his first taste of the majors in early June but only mustered six plate appearances in his two-week stay. He recorded just one hot, but it was a home run. For the season with the Isotopes, he posted a modest .806 OPS but swiped 46 bags in 49 tries. The switch-hitter fanned 35.2 percent of the time in the minors, which is his career average. Jones has plus speed with a little pop but his inability to make contact prevents him from showing off his tools. There's no indication he'll figure things out, so Jones is ticketed for another year on the farm.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Getting look in outfield
Jones is going to get a look in the outfield, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis
A 2019 first-round pick, Jones was drafted as a shortstop, but that's a position in which the Rays have plenty of depth and is spearheaded at the big-league level by Wander Franco. One of the fastest players in the system, Jones could be an option in center field for Tampa Bay and also has the ability to play up the middle as a utility option. The 25-year-old hit just .238 with a .710 OPS over 358 plate appearances for Double-A Montgomery in 2022, but he did steal 37 bases in 42 attempts for the Biscuits.
