2026 Fantasy Outlook
Freeman reflected back on his 2024 season and liked it so much, he replicated most of it in 2025. It is uncanny how similar many of his statistics are between the two seasons. He remains a five-category producer from first base, although his days of stealing double-digit bases are essentially over due to his age and the ankle concerns from 2024. He has now hit 20-plus homers in each of the last nine full seasons of baseball while driving in at least 70 runs and scoring at least 80 runs in each of those seasons. He hasn't hit below .275 since 2012 and has hit .295 or better in nine of the last 10 seasons. His 114.1 mph maxEV, 10.4 Barrel% and 45.7 HardHit% were all up from 2024 and in line with his career norms. The closest thing to a red flag is that Freeman's 13.4 percent swinging-strike rate and 20.4 percent strikeout rate were abnormally high, so he appears to be sacrificing a little contact for bat speed. Freeman has two more years on his contract with the Dodgers, and while age-related decline could come at any point for the 36-year-old, that possibility is sufficiently factored into his redraft cost. Likely tabbed for cleanup spot
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said last week that Freeman will likely bat fourth during the regular season, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
Analysis
Freeman batted cleanup against lefties frequently last year, but he mostly hit in the No. 3 spot versus right-handers. However, with the offseason addition of Kyle Tucker -- who's expected to bat second -- Freeman appears destined to bat fourth regardless of the handedness of the opposing team's starter. That can only help his run production, especially with three talented hitters (Shohei Ohtani, Tucker and Mookie Betts) ahead of him most games.

Stat Review
How does Freddie Freeman compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.
* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

After suffering an ankle injury late in the regular season, Freeman struggled through the initial playoff rounds before catching fire in the World Series and sparking the Dodgers to a championship. He homered four times in the Fall Classic en route to the MVP award and in doing so became the first player in history to homer in six consecutive World Series games dating back to his time with Atlanta. His regular-season numbers took a sizable step backward, but he was still an All-Star for the sixth consecutive full season and finished as the No. 4 first baseman in traditional fantasy formats. Freeman's consistency gives him a case to still be the top 1B off the board entering 2025, although Vladimir Guerrero's age and upside will likely give him the edge in many drafters' minds. Regardless, Freeman is not showing serious red flags in terms of skill decline at 35 years old and he should be highly sought after as a building block capable of surging up past 200 runs-plus-RBI once again.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Wants to play four more seasons
Freeman wants to play four more seasons and then retire as a Dodger, he told Sonja Chen of MLB.com on Saturday. "I love being here. I'm from Southern California," Freeman said. "I've had a great time with fans. You guys treat me great. Everyone's treating my family good... I'm not worried about another contract, not going to bring it up, not going to talk about it. I got two years left. I'm just an employee. I just do my job, and if they want me back, they want me back. But I think [president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman] and everyone knows that I love being here."
Analysis
Freeman has two years remaining on the six-year, $162 million deal he signed with the Dodgers before the 2022 campaign. He's certainly done enough to justify one more deal before retiring. Since joining the Dodgers, Freeman has hit .310/391/.516 with 96 home runs, and his 149 wRC+ over that span ranks fifth among all players. Freeman has also finished in the top four in the NL MVP voting in two of his four seasons in Dodger Blue.
