2026 Fantasy Outlook
Anderson turns 32 in March and owns a career 6.50 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 44.1 MLB innings. The last of those innings came in 2021, and a previous attempt to return to the majors fell through when he failed to win a job out of camp for the Tigers in 2024 following two decent years in Japan. This time around, he's back with the Tigers but will have much more job security after signing a one-year, $7 million deal. That comes after he broke out across two seasons for the KBO's SSG Landers, including a 2.25 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 2025. He overpowered KBO hitters with a 35.3 K% but also posted a 7.3 BB%, much better than his 10.7 BB% from his first year in Korea. He won't strike out nearly that many batters at the MLB level, but his added velocity should lead to a K% much better than the 14.7% mark he managed in his previous MLB stint. There could be enough here for Anderson to be a fourth or fifth starter, but the lack of a long-term commitment means the Tigers can easily move him to the bullpen if it's not working. Read Past Outlooks
Records first career save
Anderson tossed 3.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn the save in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Marlins. He walked two and struck out two.
Analysis
The Tigers got by using only Casey Mize and Anderson on the mound Saturday, with the latter taking over in the sixth inning and cruising to the finish line on 61 pitches to earn his first career save at the MLB level. It was the longest outing of the year for the righty, who's been pitching better after a tough start to the year. Over his last two appearances, Anderson has allowed just one run across 6.1 innings and he's struck out six. He'll continue to give the Tigers an arm who can supply multiple innings out of the bullpen.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Earning consideration for starts
Anderson could find himself starting games after allowing one run in five innings out of the bullpen Thursday.
Analysis
Anderson's only start of the season Aug. 7 was a two-inning, five-run disaster, but he rebounded nicely as the long reliever Thursday, keeping the game within reach after Spencer Howard's short start. Howard has a 9.82 ERA in three outings with Texas, so it's possible he moves to the bullpen. Even as a starter, the 27-year-old Anderson will have minimal fantasy appeal until he proves he can replicate Thursday's performance, but continued success could change that.
