Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
After being limited to 73 games in 2024 due to lingering back issues that required surgery, Yelich played in 150 contests last season and finished with 29 homers, 16 steals, 103 RBI and 88 runs scored. His .264/.343/.452 slash line was a drop from the previous two seasons, but he offset that decrease with the improved counting stats, including his second career season of 100-plus RBI and his first year of more than 20 homers since 2019. Yelich primarily served as a designated hitter, but he could still have outfield eligibility for 2026 in some fantasy leagues since he made 19 appearances in left field. Despite the solid health in 2025, Yelich's durability remains somewhat of a concern as he enters his age-34 campaign, though he has played at least 140 games in three of the past four seasons. The MVP-level production is likely well behind him at this point, but Yelich has a solid floor as an above-average run producer, and seeing more time at designated hitter like he did in 2025 should help him to stay available. Out until mid- to late-May
Yelich (groin) is expected to be sidelined until mid- to late-May, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Analysis
Yelich landed on the 10-day injured list earlier Tuesday with a left adductor strain, and it appears he's looking at a 4-to-6 week absence. It's a significant loss for the Brewers and for fantasy managers that used a top-100 pick on Yelich this spring. Gary Sanchez is in line for the bulk of the reps at designated hitter for now while Yelich is out, though Andrew Vaughn (hand) and Jake Bauers could share first base and DH once Vaughn is healthy.

Another year, another season with back issues for Yelich, which this time required surgery and caused him to miss the final two-plus months of the campaign after also spending time on the IL earlier in the season. He was limited to 73 games but was back to producing at a near-MVP level when available with 11 home runs, 21 stolen bases and a .315/.406/.504 slash line, which is by far his best performance since he won an MVP and posted a 1.046 OPS over his first two years in Milwaukee during 2018 and 2019. The major difference for his production in 2024 was the launch angle, which at 5.2 degrees was his highest mark since 2020, and a career-high 40.7 percent pull rate. Having finally undergone the necessary surgery, there's hope that Yelich's back problems will now fully be in the rearview mirror, but that may be an optimistic assumption as he enters his age-33 campaign. He could see more time at designated hitter given the injuries and Milwaukee's strong outfield depth. If he's clear of the back issues and can sustain the 2024 production, Yelich would be back on an All-Star path in 2025, but those are a couple big "ifs" that carry plenty of risk for fantasy managers.
