2026 Fantasy Outlook
Coming off an injury-plagued 2024 campaign that saw him finish with a .599 OPS in just 81 contests, Bichette rebounded during the 2025 regular season with 18 home runs, 94 RBI, 78 runs and a .311/.357/.483 slash line in 139 games. It was the veteran shortstop's lowest homer total across his four full-length seasons, but he still had his best slugging percentage since 2021 thanks to a career-high 44 doubles. He missed the final weeks of the regular season due to a knee sprain but returned for the World Series, setting him up for a mostly normal offseason while heading to free agency. Bichette is hitting .292 while averaging 19 homers and 10 steals per season since becoming a full-time starter. Signing with the Mets this winter is good news for Bichette's potential run production, and he's likely to deliver a high average and around 20 homers in 2026, with that poor 2024 production likely being an outlier that was at least partially the result of injury. He'll begin the season only eligible as a shortstop. but it won't be long before Bichette gains dual eligibility at third base with Francisco Lindor locked in at shortstop. Read Past Outlooks
Continues to heat up with homer
Bichette went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two walks in Saturday's 11-6 loss to the Athletics.
Analysis
It was a much-needed jolt for Bichette, who blasted his first homer of the year Saturday. The three RBI were also a season high, and the infielder is certainly beginning to find a groove at the dish following a 2-for-22 start to the season in March. Since the beginning of April, however, Bichette has hit safely in nine of his 10 games while batting .333 with three extra-base hits and six RBI.

There were fewer high-profile busts in 2024 than Bichette. Bichette's 2024 season was ruined by a calf injury and later a finger injury that required offseason surgery, so even when he did play, the results were terrible. Bichette was coming off a three-year run of volume peaking with the nomadic 2021 ballpark situation, which helped his overall numbers, as every counting category for him has since declined each of the past four seasons. You know things were tough for Bichette when he hit .225 on the season after never hitting below .275 at any level of professional baseball before that. Bichette is entering the final year of full team control with Toronto. A fully healthy Bichette could hit leadoff in 2025, which could help him produce somewhere along his 2022-2023 span of production. The 2021 season simply is not repeatable because the run environments in Dunedin and Buffalo were contributing factors, which are no longer in play, as Rogers Centre, even with its new configurations, is much more neutral. The 2024 season was terrible, but you should look to pounce if you see his market value is too heavily affected by recency bias.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Impressive at third base
Bichette is turning heads with his first reps at third base, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman of The New York Post. "We're looking at a guy that has played shortstop his whole career. Watching him today moving around third, taking grounders, creating angles, and just the throws to first I was telling him, 'It looks like you've played here before," Mendoza said.
Analysis
Bichette joined the Mets as a free agent after signing a three-year pact with the organization. He's expected to be the team's primary option at third base, and based on the early reps, it seems he could do a good job at the hot corner despite playing shortstop throughout his big-league career.
