Caglianone's 2025 season should serve as the latest cautionary tale against prospect optimism. His stats between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha to begin the year were impressive, indicating he was ready to advance to the highest level of competition. However, he managed just a .157/.237/.295 slash line and seven homers across 232 plate appearances with Kansas City. After returning from a hamstring injury in September, Caglianone was only slightly better at .183/.310/.333. Strikeouts were not a major problem during his time in the majors, but at 22 years old, he just could not make quality contact on a consistent basis. There may be some post-hype appeal with the right fielder/first baseman, but his rookie numbers suggest he's a ways off from putting it together, and Caglianone may even need more time back at Triple-A to refine his skills.
